Executive Director - Steph Gomaa

Steph Gomaa is Doha College’s Director of Music and joined the Doha Singers in the second half of 2018. She brings a vast array of experience in choral, theatrical, concert, production and performing arts from the UK, Australia and Hong Kong. While in the UK, as Director of Music at Liverpool College, Steph worked daily with Chapel Choirs, developing strong ties with Liverpool Cathedral and other external practitioners and institutions such as Liverpool Philharmonic, Lin Marsh – composer of 2008 Children’s Opera for Liverpool Capital of Culture and more.

Since arriving in Qatar in 2017 Steph has been instrumental in building links between her students and external organisations, constantly challenging her choirs. Her students have performed for both the British and Panamanian Embassies, plus were chosen to film with Aspire Foundation for Qatar National Day in 2017. She also took on the directorial reigns of the highly successful Qatar Primary School Choir Competition, an annual national school choral competition.

Steph has a strong sense of community, constantly striving to build links and engage as many members as possible to work collaboratively and share their musical enjoyment in Qatar.

Musical Director, Haley McGivern

I am a classically trained singer with a wide variety of choral music experiences. I have a passion for choral music and joined the City of Derry Youth Choir and Ulster Youth Choir in 2013. When I began my postgraduate studies, I joined the Ulster University choir and later the chamber choir. I performed with the Ulster University choir in Carnegie Hall, New York, and in my final year became the soprano section leader. In 2016, I became a member of Codetta, a renowned chamber choir based in Derry, NI. I have had the opportunity to perform in Norway and in many other venues across Ireland singing with Codetta.
