Joining the Choir

We are a community choir and welcome all new members regardless of nationality, age, religion or ability. Terms start every September and January and rehearsals are every Monday evening in the music rooms at Al Wajba campus. Go to the Join Us tab to sign up!

Membership Fees

We charge a one-time joining fee of QAR 150 which gives members a Doha Singers tie/scarf and black concert folder.  In addition, we charge QAR 150 per season to help cover some of the running costs of the choir.

Concerts

We have one main concert at the end of each season (December and April/May), though we do have requests to perform at school and hotel fairs in addition to these.

Social

One of the main features of The Doha Singers is our friendly atmosphere.  Whilst we are a choir that performs to a fee-paying audience and therefore ensures that we rehearse properly and sing to the best of our abilities, we also know how to have fun.  Singing with the Doha Singers gives you membership of a unique group of friends where newcomers are welcomed with open arms.

I joined Doha Singers last term purely to follow my passion for singing and to meet new people. I didn’t expect to get so much from this experience - I am a complete novice but the group has taught me so much and has truly boosted my confidence. If you have ever feared joining a choir, fear not - this is the most supportive and fun group where members honestly care about helping you learn and grow. As for the concert, what a buzz! Huge thanks to the MD Steph for teaching me so much and to the committee who welcomed me with open arms. Best decision I’ve ever made. — Jo Menzies, 30 Jan 2020
Doha Singers, thank you for helping me bring music back to my life! — Diana Karmokova, 27 Jan 2020
I joined Doha Singers 4 months ago , with no choir experience whatsoever, but have learned so much already. I've been in Doha 6.5 years and wish I'd taken the plunge so much sooner. I can honestly say that I am so envigorated each time I hear how our Monday night practice brings all our voice types together to sound so great. I feel proud and excited to continue my Doha Singers journey. Id recommend the experience to anyone. — Lynda O'Donnell, 24 Jan 2020
No matter how tired and jaded I feel after a long day at work , the rehearsals always ‘pick me up’ and leave me invigorated . Singing is good for the soul ‘ — Maggie Allen , 24 Jan 2020
It is a pleasure to be directed by Steph Gomaa - she really knows what she's doing, and she has just the right tone. We are very lucky to have her! — Paul Sanderson, 23 Jan 2020
I am so happy to have found the Doha Singers! It’s a fantastic group of singers of all backgrounds and skill, and I’ve been really impressed with how well it all comes together for a professional sound. The group is well organized and well led. The energy of the musical directors helps to keep us all on our toes and to make our weekly practices fun and challenging. I’m looking forward to the next show! — Alicia Webster, 23 Jan 2020
I have had so much fun and many proud moments as a member of the Doha Singers. The friendships and memories I have made will be lifelong. I couldn't recommend a hobby more. — Lewis Polden, 19 Jan 2020
It’s great to be able to practise singing, in a social group. I'm pleased to say that I have had a lot of great experiences since I joined the Doha singers. — Abdelrahman, 16 Jan 2020
Doha Singers has made me crave for Mondays and go through the Doha Expressway traffic with a smile. Great people, great music, great environment! Such a nice place to be in to unleash the inner musician in all of us. — Karen Rei Sanao, 16 Mar 2017
Monday night is choir night, and my favourite night of the week. No matter how tired I am, I always come away feeling happy and energized. The singers are all great fun and supportive. You do not have to be a great singer in order to join the choir. Just love music and give it your all! — Tessa Kerkvliet, 07 Mar 2017
